How To Do Machine Shoulder Press

Question: Hi! I was just wondering if I was to do shoulder presses with the Hanoun machine should I bring my elbows even to my shoulders to keep the muscle contracted, or would I use full range of motion in this exercise? Thank you. I think you have a great site. Sandy

Answer: Hi Sandy! I'm not familiar with the Hanoun machine, but with most shoulder press machines you can go ahead and use full range of motion. However, I don't recommend doing overhead presses to most people because of the danger of shoulder impingement. You can get the exact same muscle isolation by simply raising your arm to the side 90 degrees and stop once your arm gets to shoulder level.
