Love Handle Targeting Exercises

Question: Hi, I work out regularly, 4-5x's per week, doing strength training first followed by 30-45 minutes of cardio (usually 30 minutes on elliptical machine followed by run on treadmill) I eat right, drink plenty of water but have developed love handles on my hips that i don't know how to get rid of. Can you recommend an exercise to target this area...is running an effective way to burn this annoying spot away??? Squats too, (or am I building this area up by doing them??) thanks. susie

Answer: Susie, For you, I would recommend strength training only two times per week and spending your extra time doing cardiovascular training at a moderate intensity. Leave out the squats for a while and see how that affects your body. Substitute walking lunges with only your body weight.
