Maintaining Weight after Weight Loss

Question: I'm 5'2" and weigh 120lbs, I have lost 45lbs using 5lb ankle weights and a treadmill at 3mph at an incline of 2 for 30 min. I stopped usings the leg weights and increased the speed to 4.5 mph and incline to 6, will this maintain the weight loss if no other variables have changed? As well I do a lot of toning exercises and know muscle weighs more than fat, but is 120 too heavy for 5'2"? Melody

Answer: Melody, I don't recommend using ankle weights - it's good you got rid of them. They don't really increase your heart rate enough to make that much of a difference. Increasing the speed and incline is the best way to make your workout more challenging and effective. You'll have no problem maintaining the weight loss - and even losing more - if you continue at the increased speed and incline. 120 pounds is not too heavy for 5'2".
