Shoulder Blade Pain Poor Posture
Question: I love your website! I tried your suggestion of sitting up straighter in order to strengthen my abs. Well, when I do sit up straight, my shoulders and underneath my shoulder blades begins to hurt. What am I doing wrong? Tam
Answer: Tam, Thanks! When you changed your posture, your rotator cuff muscles and shoulder girdle muscles, which were supporting your former bad posture, started getting used in a different way. This made them sore and the soreness should go away after practicing correct posture for a while. If the soreness persists or if the pain is severe, see your doctor or a physical therapist to determine the cause and treatment. As you practice good posture, you'll become more comfortable. Everything lines up and you feel balanced.
